Questions to Ask About Reading

This is what I send home with students to help parents with what kinds of questions to ask during or after reading. It has been a huge hit this year!
Parents are always asking how they can help their students, and we love them for it. I have always told parents the number one way to help is to ask questions while or after your students read. This year I am taking all the guess work out of asking questions and including this handy little one-pager on asking questions.

I have had a lot of awesome feedback from parents already, and I am hoping that it will be useful for you too! You can get your own copy at the end of this post.

Here is my question... What resources do you give your students to help them at home?

  1. Thanks for sharing this freebie! I really think this will help my parents help their child at home. :)
I send home a guided reading log along with their leveled book where I can communicate with the parents strategies to focus on etc. I think this sheet would be a good addition to the guided reading bag we send home. ;)

  4. This is a great idea! Some parents want to ask their children about their reading, but beyond the basic summarizing questions, it can be difficult to come up with the higher level questions. Your resource simplifies the process and helps open up possibilities for interesting discussion. Thank you!
